Mohammed Asif Malek
Asif acts as the Managing Partner at CH Legal and much of his time is spent on issues relating to strategy, growth, marketing and the day to day running of the practice. In addition to having overall supervisory responsibility for some cases, he personally takes on a select number of cases each year which are typically litigious in nature and generally have a tax, financial or regulatory flavour. His clients include individuals, companies, partnerships and trustees based in the UK and abroad and he is frequently consulted by fellow professionals in relation to particularly complex matters and is increasingly involved in multi-party and novel actions. Asif is a former tax and commercial barrister and a Chartered Tax Advisor. He trained in a London set of chambers, qualifying as a barrister in 1998. It was at this early stage in his career when he first developed an interest in revenue law. He thereafter worked in the tax and / or trust departments of a major private bank, one of the “big four” firm of accountants and a nationally recognised law firm before returning to Manchester and independent practice at the Bar. During his time in chambers Asif was able to widen the scope of his practice to include more general commercial litigation matters. He joined the firm as a partner in 2007. Asif is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. He has been recognised as a leader in his field by Chambers and Partners 2010 and has been appointed to the Law Society Income Tax Law Sub-committee which is consulted by government bodies on tax law. Most recently, in August 2010, Asif was appointed as a Deputy District Judge by the Lord Chancellor and sits on the Northern Circuit. Asif gives seminars on new developments in the law and enjoys writing articles on topical subjects within his area of expertise.
